The map data was acquired by exporting my bike route from my Garmin activity tracker.
The data were then uploaded to Maps to GPX web application. This website accepts URL links that allow users to convert Google directions into a GPS file.
Using the Google "get directions" feature of Google Maps, I selected approximate locations plotting approximate map points using Google Maps, then copying and pasting the URL of the map web page into the Map to GPX field. This map shows a bike route of about 25 miles along mostly rural roads on the east and north sides of Madison, WI and the greater Dane County area. One of the most scenic rides that I have been on and a constant favorite of mine. In terms of bike time, it takes about 55 minutes one way depending on wind, temperature, and how much energy one is feeling. Most road segments are good to reasonable, although there are short stretches that are quite bumpy. There are a few hills, but nothing too terrible. Your legs and overall body, will definitely get a workout on this ride, but the views are certainly worth it!
